Novel Ideas is our 6th-8th grade book group. A free copy of the book is provided for the first 8 participants. Light refreshments are served at every meeting.
This month's book is The Lost Year by Katherine Marsh.
Matthew is miserable as he struggles through the pandemic. His dad is stuck overseas and his mother has moved them in with his 100-year-old great grandmother. However, Matthew finds a black and white photo in his great grandmother's belongings, a clue to his family's past. Told through alternating timelines, Matthew begins to learn about a secret of his family and the Holodomor, a Ukrainian famine covered up by the Soviet government.
