How Do I Get a Library Card?

When applying for a library card, please have a photo ID and a valid proof of address available.

All residents of Cole and Osage Counties, ages 5 and up, are eligible for a library card. Missouri River Regional Library also has agreements with libraries in Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Franklin, Gasconade, Maries, Miller, Moniteau, and Warren counties and residents of those counties can get a reciprocal card. Patrons of these counties may use MRRL facilities at no charge and in exchange, MRRL patrons may use their facilities. Other Missouri residents may also use MRRL for an annual fee. Currently, the fee is $50 for an individual card or a family card.

Applicants age 5 to 17 years must have a parent or legal guardian sign the application.

Applicants age 18 and up must present an ID (Drivers license, school ID, voter ID, etc.) with current address.

Temporary cards:

College students attending local universities may obtain a 1 year temporary card with proper student ID.

State legislators may also apply for a card.

Resident cards expire two years from issue date and are nontransferable. Only YOU may use your Library card. Please be aware that you will need the ID and current address information when you apply for a card.

How Do I Renew a Library Card?

You can renew your card at the library, over the phone by calling (573) 634-2464 or using the online form.

As a patron of Missouri River Regional Library, I agree:

  • To be responsible for all items checked out on this card
  • To pay for damages to items checked out on this card
  • To pay the replacement cost of lost items
  • To report loss or theft of card immediately
  • To not lend this card to anyone else
  • To accept responsibility for all fines incurred
  • To abide by present and future rules of the library, including computer and Internet access policies

I understand that:

  • All cards expire every two years; renewals are free of charge
  • The replacement cost of a card is $1.00 if the card is lost or damaged

Parental Consent for use of Library Card by Minor

As the parent/guardian of the minor child whose name is stated above, I am aware that such child has a library card granting access to the content at Missouri River Regional Library. I understand this may include print or electronic materials of books, periodicals, databases, websites, or the like and that such information may include both fiction and nonfiction written information and that some electronic sources may include video or other interactive portions of content.

I understand that Library staff, directors, or other official persons affiliated with the Library do not have supervisory duty over my Child and that it is my responsibility to monitor the Child’s behavior and consumption of content, in any and all forms.

By filling this out you understand that you have been informed in reviewing this consent form that you have access, as a patron of Library, to access the collection development policy of Library under 15 CSR 30-200.015, of Missouri State Regulations and that it is your responsibility to review the same if so desired.
