Databases Are My Friend

Databases Are My Friend

I spend a lot of time on the computer, writing plays, and working on my blog; life is so much easier for me when I double and triple check facts using the library databases.

EbscoHost is a wealth of information with all the different sites I can access.  ERIC is a database which has all sorts of educational literature, an ebook section which is mainly nonfiction books, and many databases under this one name.

Lynda.com is another database which has taught me and keeps me up-to-date on computer information.  Lynda.com also covers photography, business information, and much more.

Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest are fantastic for looking up the history of a family.  The library offers ancestry classes and use the different ancestry databases for the class.  The television show, Dead Files, uses these same databases to help find information for the clients they work for on the show.

If I need car help there is Chiltons.  Consumer Reports is there for help trying the find best product.  Pronunciator is invaluable for learning a new language or the customs of other countries; I’m learning Croatian.  I’ve used every one of the library’s databases, especially in my writing and I haven’t even scratched the surface.  There is so much on the digital resource page it boggles my mind.  Yes, a databases can be useful tools and in my case, good and trustworthy friends.
