Description

Have you ever wondered why it is easier for children to learn a foreign language than adults? How can the learning of foreign languages be advantageous for students and other adults? Sometimes knowing a foreign language can be a matter of life or death, depending on the situation. Some of the benefits of learning a foreign language pertain to careers, more cultural awareness, study abroad opportunities, meeting new people and improvement in learning skills. Gloria Williams, assistant professor of Spanish and French at LU, will share how she learned Spanish, French, German, Swedish, English, Japanese and Patois as she lived in Sweden, Spain Germany, Jamaica, the USA, and the impact this has had in her life and career.
