ABLE tutors provide quality instruction that helps adults gain increased literacy skills. Anyone 16 years of age or older and not in school may participate. 

Senior Nutrition Center offers delicious hot meals Monday through Friday, activities, and educational opportunities. Adults who are physically unable to attend their local center can receive home-delivered meals.

Temporary assistance for hotel lodging after fire or other disaster.

Building Community Bridges hosts a food pantry every Monday from 4:30-6:00 pm and Thursday from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm to help provide food assistance to those in need.

Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Association (CMFCAA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for foster, adoptive, and kinship families in Central Missouri. We provide resources, training, and services to enhance the lives of children and families involved in foster care and adoption.

Section 8 voucher program based on availability.

Central Missouri Community Action Area Resource Guide

Clinic services by appointment only. Women's health, TB skin tests, immunization services, lab draws, blood pressure and head lice checks, and medication administration. Medicaid accepted. Must have a legal ID. 

Only available for residents who live within the Jefferson City school district.

Bus passes available by appointment only; must meet certain eligibility requirements; gas vouchers for medical appointments or new hires; once every three months; Greyhound or Amtrak for emergency relocation occasionally available. Housing assistance program to assist working families transition from homelessness to independent living. Families are supported for one year to achieve sustainability. 

Medical and dental care. Walk in medical appointments accepted. Sliding fee scale available based on income. After hours care available. 

Offers medical, dental and mental health services to the communities in and surrounding Osage County.

Counseling services for behavioral health and substance abuse for children and adults. Crisis Center for adults 18 years and older. 

Offers free services and support to the Hispanic community. Includes educational programs, interpretation and translation services, assistance with transportation, and social services. 

Mobile Food Distribution:

4th Tuesday, 10am-12pm

Need SSN and ID; may visit once per month; Tuesday 12:00PM-4:00PM.

Need valid drivers license or state ID. Food pantry Tuesdays 1-3pm. May visit once every three months. 

Fresh Start Market: household necessity and toiletry pantry. Clients spend points on the items they need. Points are earned by working in the market or attending educational programs. Open first three Tuesdays of the month from 12:00-3:00pm. 

Food Pantry Distribution:

Wednesday and Thursday from 9-11:30 a.m. No distributions on the fifth week of the month.

Provides the foundation and safe space for homeless children in Jefferson City. Ages 0-21 only. 

Handi-Wheels can pick up clients inside the city limits and take them to any destination within the city limits which can be safely reached. All buses are wheelchair-lift equipped and provide transportation for individuals who because of disability cannot travel to or from a fixed route bus stop or cannot get on, ride or get off a fixed route bus.

Advocacy, peer support, independent living skills, information and referral, and transition for persons with all types of disabilities. Will serve all persons with disabilities including youth, young adults, the aging, and veteran populations. 

Public housing and Section 8 voucher program based on availability.

Low barrier shelter open December through March in the First Baptist Church Activities Building. 

Routes within Jefferson City limits; Monday-Friday only 6:40AM-5:20PM; $1.50 per ride.

Helps individuals initiate and maintain recovery from behavioral health disorders. 

Provides free classes on basic literacy, HiSet/GED, ESL, and Citizenship to individuals who are at least 17 years of age or older and not enrolled in secondary school. 

Job finding services and workshops; computer access.

Mobile soup kitchen every Saturday. Times vary - starting at noon. 

Housing resources from the State of Missouri.

Search and connect to resources, community programs, and childhood services for families with young children under 5.

Computer access; free computer classes including one-on-one tech time help with IT staff.

Support and education groups for family, professionals and individuals living with mental illness.

Community intervention and rehabilitation for individuals with persistent mental illness.

Round trip fare for medical appointments and grocery shopping, regardless of age, income, disability, gender, religion or national origin. $2 per one-way trip. 

County Service from Cole County to Jefferson City:

• Open to individuals of any age.

• 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. 

Non-profit organization that provides reproductive and sexual healthcare services, sex education, and advocates for access to these services

Pregnancy Help Center of Central Missouri provides hope and care to those facing a pregnancy, planned or unplanned.

Provide services to persons who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and/or stalking.

No-interest mortgages to qualifying families.

Also offers assistance with clothing, medical care, legal care, tax assistance, parent and child supplies, and other services as funds are available.

Pregnant women and mothers of newborns only.

Exists to prevent and end forced labor and sexual exploitation of innocent children, women and men. Seeks to identify victims, expose traffickers and buyers, promote slave-free practices and support survivors of human trafficking on their journey towards wholeness. 

Photo ID; Proof of Address; Social Security Card for each household member required. Bags, laundry baskets or boxes are suggested to carry food.

2nd & 4th Saturday of the month 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.; may visit monthly; no ID or income requirements. 

Guests receive a three day supply of meals as well as the recipes to prepare them.

Community Meals: Open daily from 12:30pm-1pm, and 5:30pm-6pm

Shelter: 40 beds; houses men, women, and children – call ahead for availability; adults cannot have assault records and cannot have been at the Salvation Army within a year; cold weather cots when nighttime temps below 32 degrees.

The Salvation Army Family Store provides quality and affordable items for those in our community. Social services department may issue a voucher once every 6 months.
