Hoopla is a service you can download as an app or access through your computer to watch movies and television, listen to music and audiobooks and read ebooks and comics.

You can check out 6 Instant items a month from Hoopla.

At the beginning of the new month, your 6 Instant item limit will reset. For example, if you reach your 6 Instant item maximum for January. You can check out 6 more Instant items on February 1. 

You can check out the same item again after your loan period has run out and the item has been returned so long as you have not reached your 6 Instant item maximum for the month. Bingepasses are a way to check out more materials without affecting your maximum monthly checkout.

How Hoopla BingePasses Work

  • One Borrow, Unlimited Access: Instead of borrowing one movie or ebook, you borrow a 7-day pass to a whole collection or platform.
  • Content Variety: Includes streaming series, movies, kids' content, educational courses (like The Great Courses, Curiosity Stream), digital magazines, music lessons, and puzzles.
  • Instant & Ad-Free: Get immediate access within the Hoopla app or website, often without ads and without waiting lists.
  • Library Card Required: Free with your public library card that supports Hoopla. 

How to Find & Use Them

  1. Log In: Go to hoopladigital.com or open the Hoopla app.
  2. Browse: Look for "BingePasses" in the browse menu or tap the BingePass icon.
  3. Borrow: Select a pass (e.g., Hallmark+, PBS Kids) and hit the "Borrow" button.
  4. Binge: Explore all content within that collection for 7 days, using only one borrow.

Kanopy is a film streaming service that provides over 30,000+ classic cinema movies, award-winning documentaries, and educational films. All films come with group-sharing rights. So teachers can show films in their classrooms!

Checkout Guidelines

You have 10 tickets a month to borrow movies on Kanopy. At the beginning of the new month, your 10-ticket limit will reset. For example, If you reach your 10-ticket maximum for January, you will receive 10 more tickets on February 1.

You can check out the same item again after your period has run out and the item has been returned, so long as you have yet to reach your 10-ticket maximum for the month.

  • Each item on Kanopy will list the number of tickets and how long you can access the item on the items page.
    • You can watch a movie as often as possible within the rental period.
    • For episodic titles such as TV series or The Great Courses, it will also tell you what content the tickets unlock (e.g., “Season 1” or “All”).

A PIN will be necessary to log in to LinkedIn Learning. PINs can be set by calling the library. Patrons need to have their library card number ready to give to the library employee,  Once the PIN is set, patrons can use their it to log in immediately. 

MAS Ultra School Edition

This database contains full text for popular high school magazines covering a wide-range or subject areas including history, science, careers and more.

MasterFILE Premier

MasterFILE Premier provides full-text magazines, reference books and primary source documents. This database also provides an Image Collection containing photos, maps and flags.

Medline

Medline is a database of life sciences and biomedical information. Includes bibliographic information for articles from academic journals covering medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and health care.

Middle Search Plus

Middle Search Plus is a full-text database providing popular middle school magazines and reference books. Covering subjects such as history, current events, science and sports.

Ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines all in one place! Use your library card to access materials that you can read on computers, tablets, and mobile devices. Libby is an app released by OverDrive. Libby is a fast and attractive digital browsing experience. MRRL is part of what is called the Missouri Libraries 2Go Consortium

Setting Up the App:

  1. Download the Libby app from the App Store or Play Store.
  2. Select “Missouri Libraries 2Go”  
  3. Then select Missouri River Regional Library.
  4. Then, enter the barcode on the back of your card.
  5. Please note: this service is ONLY for resident or fee paid cards only, not reciprocal cards.

 

Finding Materials

  • To browse for a new book, tap the building at the bottom of the screen. This will show various collections of books.
  • To look for a genre, format, or availability, tap the menu at the top. Then, choose the tags that describe what you're looking for. This narrows the search.
  • To search for a specific author or title, tap the magnifying glass at the bottom. You can also narrow the results by tapping the menu.

Borrowing Materials

Once you see a book you want to borrow, look to the right. Right next to the book will be one of three options:

  • Borrow: This material is available! Tap "borrow" to read now.
  • Place Hold: This material is owned by the system, but all copies are currently checked out. Tap "Place Hold" to wait in line for a copy.
  • Notify Me: This material is not currently owned by our system. Tap "notify me" to get a notification when/if the system purchases a copy.
