KBIA engagement event

Event Description

KBIA is committed to covering election season in mid-Missouri through a citizen-centered lens that prioritizes constituent needs. Instead of horse-race coverage that focuses on the odds of a win, we’ll uplift our neighbors’ voices to answer the more essential question: “What’s at stake for you?” Together, we’ll explore the answers that will really matter at the polls in November.

Listening Session

PROMO is partnering with KBIA to host a listening session with LGBTQ+ families and adults about what matters to them this election season. We want to discuss what's at stake for you during the election, and how you want reporters to approach their coverage of LGBTQ+ issues.

We are hosting this session with your privacy and safety as a priority. This session will not be recorded and there’s no pressure to share your personal information with us.

We encourage anyone willing to share their thoughts to attend. The following are just a few of the topics up for discussion:

LGBTQ+ representation in news media

Proper and improper language for LGBTQ+ individuals

Transgender issues in the MO legislature

LGBTQ+ experiences in rural Missouri

Voting while trans
