Program Description

Description

Passions of Painting is an art show featuring the work of Larry Carver, a lifelong resident of Cole County, born just outside of Jefferson City during the Baby Boom era. Rural landscape settings and reflective Americana is apparent in many of Larry’s paintings. He often paints of days gone by in a setting of rustic rural architecture or of flora and fauna capturing mood and color in a narrative scene. His love of the outdoors shows up in many of his landscapes where the skies often take center stage.

"I often try to paint with a limited palette to capture fauna and flora with the camouflage and habitat of their surrounds," Carver says.  "Each painting should make the viewer pause and inject his own storyline to the scene captured in a single frame."

He has been juried for five years into Watercolor USA along with the Missouri Watercolor National 2010 and 2014 while becoming a signature member in 2014. He has received multiple awards in in regional art competitions, and his work is displayed in galleries throughout mid-Missouri as well as in Springfield and Branson.

The exhibit will run through October in the Art Gallery during library hours.

There will also be a reception for the artist on Sunday, September 21 from 2-4 pm.
