Program Description

Description

The band The Who once famously asked, "Who are you?" It's a question that Americans are increasingly asking ourselves and each other. This discussion aims to unpack the history, psychology, and practical impact of identity in America. Whether it is conservative vs. liberal, the LGBTQ+ movement. Black Lives Matter, religion, or the longstanding tension between "native" and immigrant populations, the issue of identity has always been crucial to understanding American society. We will examine how the construction and promotion of identity has come to dominate American culture and politics. Join us as we engage in an examination of how we view ourselves, others, and our shared identity as Americans. Dr. Darius Watson of Lincoln University will lead the discussion.
