The Friends of Chamois Cemeteries and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Lillie Camp #6, Jefferson City, will present a program on Jerry Berry, the last surviving Union veteran of Osage County. From being born into a slave family, to Civil War Union soldier, to Baptist minister, the life of Jerry Berry will be explored. With his gravesite almost being lost to nature, he will be recognized with a special grave marker and program presentation this Memorial Day on the bluff overlooking Chamois. Recent improvements to the six adjoining cemeteries will also be explained. Open to everyone.
