Author Talk: Laura McHugh
Laura McHugh's new novel, What's Done in Darkness, is a psychological thriller about a teenager's abduction from her family's farm. She is found after weeks but is considered tainted by her deeply religious family. She later moves to St. Louis and tries to put the past behind her until a detective wants her help with a case similar to hers. She then must untangle the truth of what really happened to her. Critics have praised McHugh's novels for their unique characters, intriguing plots, and sense of place. She received an International Thriller Writers Award for her first book, The Weight of Blood, which was the 2014 Capital READ.
