Missouri River Regional Library Takes the Capital City Back in Time…….
Seven years ago, Missouri River Regional Library took the City of Jefferson
back in time, returning to the days of knights and bards, fantasy and chivalry.
For the first time in nearly 400 years, the Renaissance had come to town.
It began as a dream…..
A few hours west, The Renaissance Festival of Kansas City was working on their
21st year of delighting audiences, they brought the past alive through the pageantry
of the Royal Court and the antics of Bob the Juggler. To promote the annual event,
performers traveled throughout Kansas City in character and costume,
giving audiences a taste of the larger event, showing them the color and excitement
of life during the Renaissance.
And to the City of Jefferson, they came, with King and Queen, court and fighters.
They brought the executioner, the fairy court, the herbalist and more.
They filled the Library's park area with magic and mystery, introducing us all
to the Renaissance Festival of Kansas City.
Each year the Festival grew and for two years it was
held on the Capitals grounds. We have now outgrown the area and
moved it to a location in west Jefferson City to allow for additional
performing acts and the most requested event...
