Rot & Ruin (Benny Imura, #1)

In the zombie-infested, post-apocalyptic America where Benny Imura lives, every teenager must find a job by the time they turn fifteen or get their rations cut in half.

This is the first zombie book I have gotten myself to read, mainly because it was a Gateway nominee this year.  Zombies have not held the same interest for me that vampires and other denizens of the paranormal world have held, but I enjoyed it greatly.  It had all the basic zombie lore, they don’t run, they’re attracted by noise, no glittery skin to make them stand out but the author did throw in some new tricks.  There was a bit of romance to it, death, of course, and learning new ways to avoid zombies, should they ever really exist.
