A Ghostly Fundraiser Is Coming!!

Check out the new Facebook page for up-to-the-minute information on the Ghost Tour fundraiser that MRRL's Foundation and the JC Convention and Visitors Bureau will be putting on together on Sept. 22nd, 2012. The two organizations are teaming up for a ghostly joint fundraiser and they could use your help! Support your local organizations and get a ghost tour of the Missouri State Pen at the same time.

Scheduled for 9 p.m. to midnight on Sept. 22 at the Missouri State Penitentiary, the event will feature a two-hour ghost tour of the penitentiary followed by an hour of ghost stories told by two area professional storytellers.
The date of the event marks the 58th anniversary of the 1958 riot at the prison in which four people were killed and hundreds were injured.

There have been numerous accounts of ghostly apparitions being seen on the grounds of the penitentiary and it was even featured on the Syfy network’s Ghost Hunters program in 2011.

The Ghost Tour will include a number of areas of the prison where paranormal sightings have been reported as well as the former gas chamber area where 40 executions were carried out.
Following the tour, professional storytellers Larry Brown, Fulton, and Anthony Clark, St. Charles, will share specially crafted ghost stories weaving MSP’s history in their tales.

Seating is limited, so everyone must purchase their ticket in advance. Tickets are available online for $75 and can be purchased by visiting www.missouripentours.com. The minimum age to attend this event is 18. All proceeds will benefit the Missouri River Regional Library Foundation and the Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau.
