MRRL PRESENTS MORE GARDENING – Q &A WITH JAMES QUINN
573-634-6064 ext. 247
JEFFERSON CITY – Whether you have a green thumb or only dream of growing fresh vegetables, Gardening with James Quinn, a Missouri River Regional Library program could help. The program will be presented at 7 p.m. on Monday in the MRRL Art Gallery.
This is the second part of a two-part series and will allow participants to ask Quinn, a horticulture specialist at the Cole County Extension Center, questions.
Areas of discussion will include herbs and fruit. Since the recession began in 2007, interest in “growing your own” has spiked for a number of reasons.
What herbs have you tried to grow, and what has worked or hasn’t?
• Everybody loves lavender & rosemary- can you overwinter them in Missouri?
• Are you trying to do more with your own personal vegetable garden? What’s working and what’s not?
• Is fruit challenging to grow in Missouri? (yes…it is not your imagination or lack of talent) Are their some easy choices?
At minimum, come with questions, and it can digress into a horticultural “stump the chump” session.
Quinn is horticulture specialist at the Cole County MU Extension Center.
