Terry MartinBiography:
A graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia Colleges of Education
and Fine Art, with B.S., M.Ed., and M.F.A., Terry Martin has focused his
time and energy toward teaching, parenting and artistic pursuits. Like
his brother, his love is of nature, and he was encouraged in 1983 when
one of his watercolors was selected for use as the first competitive
Missouri Trout Stamp. This opportunity created other opportunities to
illustrate and paint portrayals of nature. His illustrations appear in
the popular "Fly Fishing For Trout in Missouri" by Chuck & Sharon
Tryon. Terry is presently an Associate Professor of Studio Art at William
Woods University in Fulton, MO. He resides in Jefferson City, Missouri
with his wife Michelle, son Patrick and daughter Jenny. Both children
enjoy art and are participants in the home studio. Michelle's minor in
college was art history, and along with her husband she enjoys trips to
museums. Terry says his wife is a valued critic of his artistic
efforts. Artist's Statement:I enjoy working in a number of media and try to communicate the mystery and romance I experience as I contemplate the majesty of nature. Phenomena such as weather, behavior of animals, and man's role as a steward of the Earth is of interest to me as I communicate through painting. Gregg MartinBiographyA graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia Colleges of Business and Education, with B.S., M.B.A, and Ph.D., Gregg Martin has balanced his administrative, and teaching responsibilities while continuing a life-long commitment to artistic expression. He is the father of a son and daughter who are also talented in art. Gregg and his wife Kathy reside near Huntsdale, close to the Missouri River and Eagle Bluffs Wildlife Area. Kathy and the natural surroundings are a source of encouragement and inspiration for his painting. Artist's Statement
My paintings demonstrate a respect for the beauty of rural Missouri.
Since the time I began to sketch as a boy I have been interested in the
challenge of capturing the play of light and shadow upon objects. I
learned to oil paint as a student at Rolla High School and have never
grown tired of translating the natural world in oil paint on canvas. My
goal is to help the viewer of my paintings to see Missouri from a
visitor's perspective and avoid losing this perspective in day-to-day
activities.
