Biography:Raised in New Mexico, Patricia Green has resided in Missouri for 3 years, now in Columbia. A Registered nurse by trade, Ms. Green returned to school at Lincoln University to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies in 1999. Her son Jason continues the family trait of visual creativity with film studies in California. "Having lived in 7 states throughout my life, I have an appreciation of the diversity of cultures we have in this country, and through my photography I have attempted to capture this diversity. Frequent and faraway travel has also contributed to the array of subject in her my work. My greatest influence comes from my home state of New Mexico which is a goldmine of cultures, colors & textures."
Ms. Green continues to concentrate her photography around travels, most
recently the coast of Maine and earlier this year in Greece. It is not
the typical travel photography that one may expect but rather a subtle
capturing of local nuances that the viewer may have to search to find.
Photographs from Paris and Santa Fe have hung in art shows in New Mexico,
and in September, work from New York City was selected as prize-winning
at the Visions Photography show of the Festival of the Arts in
Columbia. |

Artist's Statement:"This photography bug was a late-in-life acquisition and no one was more surprised than I to find not only enjoyment from it, but the creative outlet that it has become. Only 5 years into the medium, I am finally beginning to grasp the meaning of capturing a vision and producing a tangible and everlasting keepsake of it. That each of us can look upon a photograph and bring forth the experience of being there, the wonder of seeing that, or the emotion of doing that, is the belief I have that pictures are a priceless addendum to our memories."
"This particular series of window reflections represents an attempt, I
believe, to get two subject matters into one shot. Often falsely
interpreted as superimposing, these photographs are actual reflections.
Not only does this save on film and processing, a nice by-product, but it
challenges the viewer to unscramble the images to place them in their
proper perspective. This is the fun I obtain from my photography."
