 We have some exciting programs in Children's this week. On Monday, January 7th at 6:30 pm you can enjoy a Tropical Island Craft Adventure during our Be Creative Craft. Forget the cold! Heat up the winter with a collection of tropical animal crafts to make and take. Then on Saturday, January 12th at 11 am you can come to the library for Book Bingo Bonanza! It is an hour of family bingo fun and winners earn book prizes. That's right every time you get a bingo you get a free book! So come spend some time with us at the library this week. You will definitely have fun!

The 2013-2014 Show Me Award Nominees have been announced.  Each year, Missouri schoolchildren in grades 1-3 vote for their favorite book from a list of nominated titles. The Show Me Award is awarded to the author of this book by the Missouri Association of School Librarians. Enjoy this year's selection of nominees. It is finally beginning to feel like winter outside so let's do some winter crafts. This week we have a Be Creative crafts for kids on Monday, December 10 at 6:30 pm. We will be making Snowflake Stamps and Reindeer Friends. Come join the fun!

Get up and get moving with our weekly storytimes at the library. We have our Preschool Story Time every Tuesday at 10:30 am and our Family Story Time every Wednesday at 10:30 am.  These exciting story adventures will be sure to get you moving and dancing and enjoying the stories. Come join us and see what Story Time is all about.

We want to wish all of our wonderful patrons a Happy Thanksgiving. We will be closed on Thursday and Friday to let our staff enjoy the holiday. We hope you have a great Thanksgiving.

Jay and Leslie are back! They are coming to MRRL this Saturday, November 10 at 1 pm.

Jay and Leslie Cady of Laughing Matters are the lucky stars of this fun program of juggling tricks, wacky humor, and new twists on classic bedtime stories. Follow your lucky stars to the library for this dream come true for the whole family!

We have lots of Halloween fun at the library this October.

The Library now subscribes to Tumblebook Library! TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks – animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.

There are only two weeks left in the MRRL Summer Reading Program. You have until Friday, August 31st to turn in your reading logs and get your prizes.  We have had 1500 kids sign up for the Summer Reading Program this summer and there are still quite a few who have not turned their log in. So if you are finished with the program, please bring you log into the Children's Department. We have lots of prizes, including a giant stuffed snake, free book, glow in the dark glasses and a free personal pizza from Pizza Hut.
