What is netLibrary?

netLibrary is the most comprehensive collection of online books (eBooks) available. Using netLibrary, you can access a wide range of scholarly and reference materials entirely online. netLibrary is as easy to use as a traditional library, but is faster, more efficient and accessible from any location. With netLibrary, you can search every work in an eBook, as well as cross-reference other eBooks.

What is an eBook?

An eBook is an electronic version of a printed book. eBooks can be viewed online from any computer connected to the Internet. You can view eBooks for 15 minutes for quick reference, or borrow and read them at your leisure. Because eBooks are online, they're available at your convenience - anywhere, anytime. And you don't have to worry about returning them - eBooks are automatically returned at the end of your check out period.

What is an eBook collection?

There are three types of eBook collections at netLibrary - Library, Private, and Public.

  1. The Library collection contains eBooks that your library has purchased.
  2. The Private collection contains copyrighted eBooks that your library has not yet purchased.
  3. The Public collection contains public domain eBooks that are free to everyone.

How do I create an Account?

There are two ways to access eBooks at netLibrary.

  1. If you are visiting the netLibrary web site from an authenticated PC at the library, you can browse, search, or view eBooks as an anonymous user - no login is required.
  2. To check out eBooks, you must first create a Patron account. Once created, you can use your Patron account to log in from any computer with Internet access.

Steps to create a netLibrary account

  1. Click "Create an Account" at the netLibrary web site.
  2. Enter your identifying information, including your name and e-mail address.
  3. Click "Subscribe" Your netLibrary account has been created. NOTE: Creating a new account automatically logs you in to netLibrary.

How do I log in?

To borrow eBooks, you must log in to netLibrary using your Patron account.

To log in:

  1. Enter your user name and password on the netLibrary main navigation bar.
  2. Click "Log In" You are now logged in to netLibrary and will have access to all of the eBooks available in your library's collection.

How do I perform a Quick Search?

Quick Search allows you to quickly locate an eBook by searching keywords, author, title, subject, or full text. To perform a Quick Search:

  1. Select a Quick Search option from the drop down list on the main navigation bar.
  2. Enter search term.
  3. Click "Go". netLibrary displays the search results.

How do I perform a Power Search?

Power Search allows you to search multiple fields simultaneously, including title, author, and keywords. The more information you enter, the more precise the results of your search will be.

To perform a Power Search:

  1. Click "Power Search" on the netLibrary main navigation bar.
  2. Enter search text. * Text entered in the Title, Author, or Keywords fields searches the card catalog records. * Text entered in the Full Text field searches the full text of all eBooks.
  3. Select the eBook collections you want to search.
  4. Click "Search". netLibrary displays the search results

How do I view an eBook?

You may view an eBook without logging into netLibrary. eBooks are viewed in 15 minute intervals. You will be allowed an additional 15 minutes as long as another netLibrary patron has not requested the eBook.

To view an eBook:

  1. Locate the eBook you want to view.
  2. Click the eBook title to display the eBook information page.
  3. Click the View icon. netLibrary displays the eBook

How do I borrow an eBook?

To borrow an eBook, you must be logged in to netLibrary. Once you have checked out an eBook, you have exclusive access to the eBook for the checkout period. The duration of your checkout period is 3 weeks. The eBook is automatically checked in when the checkout period expires. At the time you borrow the eBook, a status window will display the title of the eBook and the time remaining before the eBook is automatically returned to netLibrary.

To borrow an eBook:

  1. Locate the book you want to borrow.
  2. Click the eBook title to display the eBook Information page.
  3. Click the Borrow icon.
